Carlota Perez

Carlota Perez - British-Venezuelan. Interdisciplinary researcher, international consultant and lecturer - is Professor of Technology and Development at the Technological University of Tallinn, Estonia and, in the U.K. she is Visiting Scholar at LSE, Research Associate at, CFAP/CERF, Cambridge University, U.K. and Honorary Professor at SPRU, Science and Technology Policy Research, University of Sussex. In her book Technological Revolutions and Financial Capital: the Dynamics of Bubbles and Golden Ages [Elgar 2002], she develops a theory about the historical regularities in the diffusion of technological revolutions, including the articulation of successive techno-economic paradigms and the recurrence of major financial booms and crashes midway along. In the early 1980s she was founding director of technological development in the Ministry of Industry in Venezuela and created the first venture capital agency. She has been consultant for IBM, Cisco, Ericsson and other global corporations, as well as for international organisations, NGOs and governments of both developed and developing countries.
