Dominik Sobczak holds a degree in Finance and Banking as well as a degree in European Studies, both from Warsaw School of Economics from which he graduated in 2003 and where he later worked as an academic for two years. At this time he was involved in a number of initiatives promoting Poland's integration with the European Union. He also published on monetary and fiscal integration in the EU as well as on financial markets. Since 2005 he works at the European Commission in the Directorate-General for Research and Innovation as a scientific officer in the Socio-economic Sciences and Humanities Programme where he is primarily responsible for research in finance, macroeconomics, demography and corporate social responsibility.
